Welcome to WeaselTech 3.1.2

Welcome to WeaselTech. My forum name is AllWeasel, and this place is my on-going contribution to the Amazon Basin community. I hope you will read the text on the WeaselTech pages because it may contain useful information.

I hope that WeaselTech's elegant design and minimalist approach will appeal to you. I happen to think that it's a nice break from the typical flash-infested eye pollution (being pawned off as creative web design lately).

Hover your mouse over everything on the WeaselPages; some of the WeaselFeatures are very subtle and may go unnoticed if you're not actually looking for something. The mouse-over dates (found all over the site) are a good example of this.

I've spent hundreds (okay, so it's thousands), of hours working on (or reworking) the eleven thousand-ish lines of php code found in the sixty-ish pages that comprise WeaselTech (now in it's 3rd major version). Unfortunately, you have to be a guild member (or an administrator) to see most of those pages. In fact, there are probably only a half dozen or so people that can see all of the WeaselTools.

Most people think that WeaselTech is just a glorified Diablo II password page. What those people don't see, is the twenty three other WeaselPages that allow the D2 guild members to selflessly volunteer thousands of people-hours policing the games for everyone else. Those guild members are the unsung heros. They make sure that the basinly players have access to the game passwords at all times; a safe, pleasant, place to game with basin friends, and not have to be bothered by griefers.

Use the WeaselMenu (that blue thing on the left) to navigate the various areas of WeaselTech and/or the Amazon Basin. Generally speaking, if you don't have permission to use a particular WeaselTech page, then you won't see it's link in the WeaselMenu. This means that the WeaselMenu looks different to different people at different times. Remember that - when you try to tell someone that "the link is right there..." and they appear to be clueless (as well as blind). To return to this index page later, you can click on the WeaselTech link (on the WeaselMenu).

At the top left of every WeaselPage you'll see your current default guild. The default guild choice is used where a single WeaselTech page can use more than one source of data, but can only display one guild at a time (the guild member page is a good example). For guild-specific pages, your guild-specific permissions are used and your current default guild selection does not matter.

To log onto WeaselTech, you must have one or more Basin forum accounts. To get a choice of default guilds, you must have a forum account in that guild. So, if you aren't logged-on or you only belong to one basin forum, then you won't have many choices in the guild selector pulldown menu. Click the current default to change it.

The basin administrators ask that you use the same name, password, and email address for all of the basin forums that you join. WeaselTech offers a Global Name Tool to set your name, password, and email address for all of the forums at once. You are strongly urged to use the WeaselTech tool to synchronize your forum accounts. Did you notice the different color of this text? This tells you that the text is written (or approved) by the amazon basin administrators, so you should pay attention and believe it. Not that you should ever ignore or disbelieve me, of course.

Clicking on expand will expand menus and clicking on collapse will collapse them - duh. The menus will remember the new settings, even after you log off or delete your cookies. You can view your logon status, see your personal WT permissions, and other useless geeky information on the My Settings page.

Colors found on this site (and why it matters):

Text in this color, indicates something important, urgent or otherwise needs immediate attention. Usually, this means you did something wrong or *could* do something wrong if you're not careful.

Text in this hideous color, wants you to notice it (ie; you have a PM waiting). Different from the above text only because it stands out so badly that it's not possible to miss it.

Text in this color, is a required form field or similar mandatory item. Sometimes I just use it because it's pretty and it stands out a bit.

Text in this color, was written (or approved) by the basin administrators, so pay close attention and read it with the voice of authority.

Text in this color, is visible only to guild members. In addition, many WeaselTech pages have extra fields and extra options visible only to guild members; those fields use this color also.

Wt_Pop: When you click on links in this color they will display that page in the separate browser window called "WT_Pop" (opening a single new browser window if necessary). The idea is to preserve the WeaselTech browser window so you can close the "launched" browser and return back to WT right where you left it. Some people use a tabbed browser (gogo, Firefox) or they simply dislike having more than one browser open. You can disable the "pop" behavior on the My Settings page.

When you see links in this color they are official WeaselTech pages which all come equipped with the integrated WeaselMenu as you see at the left side of this page. Note: if you disable the WT_Pop behavior, then all of the menus will appear in this color (because none of them will be pop links anymore).

WeaselTech requires cookies (for security and performance reasons), but it uses only "session" cookies. This means that all WeaselTech cookies expire when you close your browser. This is the first WeaselTech version that requires javascript (for many of the advanced pages). I figured that the forum software leans so heavily on javascript, that virtually everyone would already be using it.

Please report even the smallest bugs, problems or any silly thing that could be improved to: AllWeasel.
