Strolan:

Azeroth is home to a wide variety of beasts. From the new world of Lordaeron to the old world of Kalimdor, all manner of creatures can be found. Some are friendly, some are ferocious - yet they all have one thing in common. Each creature shares a special connection with Hunters. Hunters track, tame, and slay all manner of animals and beasts found in the wild. Whether they rely on bows or firearms, Hunters consider their weapons and pets to be their only true friends.

One of the easier characters to solo with, especially after lv 10 when one is able to charm a pet. This is meant to be a beginning, so any players that have had experiences with higher level ranged hunters, (rangers), (mine was only lv 23), feel free to add aditional info. Also do not be afraid to disagree on some of my impressions, point here being to give input about the class.

Raptor Strike - My main close combat skill, a last resort kinda thing if I drew too much aggro. More often then not, by the time the monster had gotten to me, one whirl from RS was enough to kill it.

Disengage - Fair chanse of changing aggro to another target. Good when pulling in instances for instance.

Train Pet - All these are mandatory if you have a pet. You get these for free through the 2 hunter quests the hunter trainer will give you at level 10. The first quest is to tame (charm) 3 particular animals, and the second quest (that gives you feed pet) asks you to visit a pet trainer.

Mend pet is great! It has saved my butt several times when I've been waiting for FA timer etc. That way your pet can tank, and even kill monsters that might kill you, while you build life. Necessary prereq for "Spirit Bond", (talent that tranfers pet hits to 20 life for it's master. ).

Track skills: -Track Humanoids, Beasts, Elementals, Undead etc. works well. I usually stay with Track Humanoids when travelling through contested areas with heavy enemy influence, Find Ore/Deposits in pretty safe areas. Track Hidden does not work at all.

Note! You will get rank 2 Growl, (a pet skill that makes mobs more aggressive towards your pet), for free. Higher ranks of growl can be learned from the [http://hunter.worldofwar.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=3&page=1 pet trainer], which in some towns hangs out with the Hunter trainer. The train pet skill is located in your general, (racial and so on), skill page. Train Pet will be available once the second hunter quest is completed.

In addition to Growl, pets can also learn Cower, Claw, and Bite. Different pets have different abilities, and you can learn them by stabling your "main" pet, taming a pet with the ability you want, and fighting with it for a while, until you've learned it (message in combat, or check your spellbook under Train Pet). Once you have learned a pet skill, that ability is available to train on your primary pet and all future pets. Scare Beast - As there are a lot of mobs of the beast class, this may be a useful skill if ones resources are wearing thin, and or one wants to finish off another first.

I usually scout/check area thoroughly first, if sure I will not draw aggro from several I send my pet to draw aggro with Growl, while he approaches I throw Hunters Mark. Then as mentioned above use a sequence of shots. The time it takes to build Aimed Shot is usually enough to stick monster to pet for the duration until kill. Some situations require one to pull first before engaging pet, usually it's wise not to use skills that causes great dmg then, so it is possible to derail aggro over to pet.

Edit :Mend pet is great! It has saved my butt several times when I've been waiting for FA timer etc. That way your pet can tank, and even kill monsters that might kill you, while you build life. Necessary prereq for "Spirit Bond", (talent that tranfers pet hits to 20 life for it's master. ).

Track skills: -Track Humanoids, Beasts, Elementals, Undead etc. works well. I usually stay with Track Humanoids when travelling through contested areas with heavy enemy influence, Find Ore/Deposits in pretty safe areas. Track Hidden does not work at all.

Note! You will get rank 2 Growl, (a pet skill that makes mobs more aggressive towards your pet), for free. == Walkthrough ==
Razorfen Kraul is split into 2 sections. A lower section where you can do quests like [http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1325 Blueleaf Tubers], [http://www.thottbot.com/?q=2360 Mortality Wanes], [http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=3649 Willix the Importer], [http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1325 Fire Hardened Mail] and [http://www.thottbot.com/index.cgi?q=1730 Brutal Armor]. The more difficult upper section has many named with drops and less quests.

First off to get to Roogug for a quest if you need it since he is on his own. You zone in and take a left. The path will continue till there is a bridge made of a vine that leads across to the area with Roogug. After killing roogug if you know your way around you can drop down and head towards Willix if needed.

If you want to do Tubers, Willix and Mortality Wanes the easiest way to do it is clear the path for the escort while fighting to them. Here is the path to take from the zone in. Head to the right at the intersection and look for a ramp leading down on the left. Down this ramp the path is pretty straight forward with one more intersection right before the hut. Take a right at that intersection and you will see the hut with the quests you need. Along the way you can have your gopher dig up tubers in this area. I'm not sure of the details of Mortality Wanes (Someone please help me out here). For Willix with the path clear it is an easy walk with him, at some points he will spawn some adds, but they should be no problem for you to kill. Letting him get hit first is advisable to get him to stop and fight.

The next section is the main area with bosses and can be difficult with creeps beyond level 30. You need to go right at the first intersection from zone in and continue on, not going down the ramp to willix. This will lead you through a level with creeps on levels just a bit above you. You can aggro them on accident with some AoE spells and by jumping, so be carefull here. After you get out of this small trench you can continue forward or along the top to the left and right behind you. There are bosses at each end to the left and right. Death Speaker Jarba is to the right and Aggem Thorncurse is to the left. Aggem is barely worth the effort and rarely drops anything green or better. Jarba has some allright caster stuff, but nothing amazing.

When you continue straight down this path either killing or skipping the previous bosses you will get to a room that has a raised section to the right with Overlord Ramtusk who can drop some good warrior stuff. He comes with 2 adds that are best to kill or CC first till you can focus on the boss. The boss is not fear immune if you clear enough area you can use it to help an underpowered group get the edge on him. After killing him you can head on down the main path here.

The path will continue with a dead end (sometimes with a treasure chest) and a path going along a bridge to the right. Head along this bridge as you go to small plateaus with more bridges leading you on to the bat cave. Watch for groups of patrollers that could join the fight and cause problems. After crossing 4 bridges you will finally come to the bat cave and be nearing the end of the instance. The greater kraul bats here can cast a PBAoE silence so casters should stay at range and avoid getting aggro. Priests can dispel the silence so it is very important they stay clear. In the bat cave you will see a large shimmering shield guarded by Razorfens. Clear the hostil Razorfens and prepare for a boss battle before killing the non-hostile ward keepers to drop the shield. With the shield down you can now fight the piggy Swinetusk. He drops some nice rogue stuff including a dagger.

After Swinetusk goes down continue through the rest of the bat cave till you get to the exit. Right out there in a hut is the Crone. She is the final encounter of the instance and is primarily a caster using spells like Chain lightning. If you keep the ranged at good distance from the melee the lightning will not jump to them as well. At level 34 she can pose a real challenge for a group that is all under 30, but still can be killed if you play it right. Alternatively after killing her you can jump down the ledge to the hut with Willix and do the escort and tubers after this section. The escort is a bit more difficult without clearing the way first.
