-After Lord Sumerisle has explained the ancient Templar order's holy call to combat evil, and that he and the mercenaries coming to this place are all members of the Knights Templar, he sends Darius and little Jessica to the [[Tottenham Court Road]] tube station, having access to the British Museum, which is now serving as a refuge. On the way out, they are attacked by hordes of demons and [[zombie]]s, and Lyra is forced to leave their car and travel by foot, carrying Jessica, crying for being separated from her grandfather and violently protesting at Darius for carrying her away.
-Two weeks later, Sumerisle reunites in the refuge, apparently having survived the battles. They now have to move on as the refuge is no longer secure enough. Sumerisle explains they intend to attempt a full assault on the primary Hellgate at St. Paul's Cathedral that same day, on All Hallows Eve. It may be a lost battle due to the overwhelming odds, but the plan is to make the demons believe they have wiped out all of the Templar's. The Templars operate best from the shadows, and the demonic forces have now come to know them too well, seeking and hunting them down. On their way there, Sumerisle unfortunately falls in battle.
