Diablo 2 is the sequel to the highly popular Diablo (1996). Many players consider it to be a "hack and slash" styled role playing game (RPG).
Blizzard North released Diablo II version 1.0 on 29 June 2000, with Lord of Destruction, the official expansion pack (game version 1.07) being released the following year in the summer of 2001. In addition to adding a significant amount of content with the expansion pack, Blizzard also made several game-altering patches (notably 1.09, 1.10 and 1.13) which added items, changed game balance, modified game mechanics, and brought a new feel with these changes. All of these updates are under their free <Battle.net> on-line gaming service.
