General

How do I whisper?

There are several ways to whisper to a fellow player; 1) hitting the whisper button in the chat screen, selecting the proper player, then type your message. The whisper box supplies you with a number of names from a all online guild members and guests. As of now, there is no indication the alliance members are also counted into this

2) command line; type /whisper <user name>, <message> Here, <user name> is replaced by the character name you want to talk to, without the <> around it. Message is just whatever you want to say, also without the <> around it. Do remember to add the comma (,) it is required.

3) from the guild screen; doubleclicking on a guild member will open the whisper screen in the chat window and automatically select the person you double-clicked on

These are the most obvious ways to whisper to another player. It is likely that there are more possibilities.

How do I reply to a whisper quickly?

Simply press <backspace> and type the return message.

How can I speak to my party in private?

Use the Team tab in the chat window. The hotkey for this function is; # (shift+3 on my keyboard)

How do I use emotes?

Emotes can be activated from any of the chat modes. Simply type /<emote> where <emote> is the name of the emote and hit enter (oooh, that's a nice sentence!)

For examples of emotes, see Emote guide by Arhurt.

How do I use a key?

Keys are used by clicking on a chest. A popup will appear asking if you want to use a key on this chest or not. Click YES to use the key. Happy item-hunting! If you dont have a key for this type of chest, the game will give you a message that you need a key, and what type you need.

How do I dye my weapon or armor?

Double-click on a dye, then click on the armor piece (or weapon) you want to dye.

How do I mix dyes?

Doubleclick a dye, then click on the dye (or dye remover) that you want to mix it with.

How do I set my alternate weapon configurations?

In the inventory is a button called "weapon slots". When clicked, it will show four check boxes. To open up slots, check the boxes, to close slots, uncheck them. To change the weapons in the slots, simply open the wanted slot with the F1-F4 keys, and stick in the weapons/offhands/shields that you want in the slot. A piece of equipment can be in more than one slot.

How do I drop items/gold, trade and/or mule?

Items can only be dropped when you're outside of a settlement. The same goes for gold. Trading is done by selecting the player you wish to trade with, then click the TRADE button next to their name + health bar (this is usually on the top of the screen)

What happens when I level?

When you level you gain attribute points. These points can then be spent on increasing the attributes of your primary class (including the primary attribute of that class) and your secondary class (you won't have access to the primary attribute of your secondary class).

How do I get and use skill and attribute points?

You can spend skillpoints by buying skills (including the signet of capture) at skill trainers.\ Attribute points can be spent on increasing your various attributes. Note that whenever you are in a town or outpost, you can reallocate those attribute points without penalties. This makes it worthwhile to reconsider your character build whenever you enter a new area.

How do I equip skills?

Once you have learnt a skill you can equip it by going to the skills screen (hotkey = K) and dragging that skill to the desired location on your skill bar.

How do I learn new skills?

There are three ways to learn new skills; 1) buying skills from skill trainers, which can be found in many towns and outposts 2) receiving skills as a reward for a successfully completed quest 3) using a 'signet of capture' on a dead boss. This is the only way to acquire elite skils.

Where can I find an animal to charm?

Charmable animals are found throughout all regions of the world except the Ring of fire, fissure of Woe, and the Raisu Palace monster areas (All three of these are high level areas). Whenever you see an animal with it's name in green when highlighted, that animal is charmable. In addition, enemy crabs found in boreas seabed (A mission in factions) are charmable.

Unless an animal is tamed early on, or the charmed animal is one of a few level 20 animals found in the world, characters will likely have to spend some time levelling the pet up on their own for it to be useful.

Some examples of charmable animals: tiger, crane, crab, wolf, warthog, lynx, bear, moa.

How do I travel between continents

On every continent there is a port outpost, usually a major outpost, that players must reach. On Tyria, characters must reach Lion's arch, in Cantha, players must reach Kaineng city, on battle isles, the temple of balthazar is the travel outpost. These outposts will have ship icons near them, click on the ship icons to travel to other continents. when characters travel to another continent, they will appear in these port outposts. Characters must have a merged account with a particular continent's campaign installed to travel there.

PvP only characters can't travel off the battle isles.

Travel possibilities:
Cantha or Tyria to battle isles: simply reach the port city (Kaineng center in Cantha, Lion's arch in Tyria), click the ship icon, and click battle isles in the window that comes up. To travel anywhere from battle isles, just click the ship icon near temple of balthazar.

Tyria to Cantha: First, reach Lion's arch. In Lion's arch, firstwatch Sergio will have a quest "Mhenlo's request" that will allow travel to Cantha for the first time. PVP

Where can I do pvp?

For prophecies characters below level 10, talk to the arena guard in ascalon city to open the ascalon arena. For prophecies characters between level 10 and 15, talk to the arena guard in Yak's bend. For factions PvE characters below level 10, talk to the arena guard in Shing Jea monastery. For higher level PvE characters, either go to Lion's arch or Kaineng center, click the boat, and travel to battle isles, or go to the guild hall, press the "m" key, and travel to the PvP arena of your choice.

Starting PvP characters are automatically placed on the battle isles with access to most of the arenas.

Be aware that PvE characters that are below level 20, and without maximum defense armor/maximum damage weapons will not be competetive in PvP areas. PvP only characters without many skills unlocked, and PvE characters without many skills, may have trouble competing as well.

How can I enter alliance battles?

Alliance battles can only be entered on accounts with factions. to enter an alliance battle, travel to an aliaed guild hall, and talk to the Kurzick kommadent or luxon commandetr with "alliance battles" in their name. You can only join an alliance battle on the side that your guild is on, the amazon basin is Kurzick. Chqaracters will need to be level 20 with max damage weapons and max defense armor to be competetive.
