Armor in Hellgate: London come in the form of helms, shoulders, torso, arms, belt, legs, and boots. Armor also come in the form of shields as a Templar-only item.
The armor pieces protect against the different kinds of damage (physical, fire, electric, spectral, and toxic) with varying efficiency.
Armor come in varying levels of rarity and power.
Armor pieces can also be dyed (not by using any kind of dye kits or personal easels but being dyed at the time of drop), and then a color sharing system is used that allows the player to pick the color of any armor piece to use for the whole set to avoid "clown suits", using Ivan Sulic's words, an "artistic" problem sometimes seen in e.g. Diablo II.
