Rune Words can be made in Expansion games by placing runes1 in the sockets of an item (helm, body armor, weapon or shield), but only when all the following conditions are met:
Since runes cannot be recovered once they have been placed in sockets, proceed with caution. 1Technically other socket fillers can be used as well (which is used in some D2 mods), although in the original game runewords are made solely of runes.
