About the Game (non-gameplay)

Diablo 2 is the sequal to the highly popular Diablo 1 (1996). Many players consider it to be a "hack and slash" styled role playing game (RPG).

Blizzard North released Diablo 2 version 1.0 on <date>. Blizzard released the Lord of Destruction expansion pack with version 1.07 on June 29, 2000. In addition to adding a significant amount of content with the expansion pack, Blizzard also made several game altering patches (notably 1.09 and 1.10) which added items, changed game balance, modified game mechanics, and brought a new feel with these changes. All of these updates are under their free <Battle.net> online gaming service. The current game version is 1.11(b?). Unless mentioned otherwise, all information in the Daiblo 2 wiki is for the most recent patch of Diablo 2, Lord of Destruction (D2 LOD).
