Wirt's body can be found in west corner of Tristram, close to river. Click on it and Wirt's Leg and gold are dropped. Leg requires 1x3 inventory space to pick up, and it can only be picked up if one is not already equipped or present in inventory or stash. Wirt's Leg may be socketed, but it cannot be used to create a Rune Word; it can be imbued by Charsi after completing Tools of the Trade quest. It can still be used to create portal even after being modified in any way. Horadric Cube drops from golden chest in Halls of the Dead Level 3 while completing the Horadric Staff, or from second Super Unique Council Member killed in Travincal while ridding the Blackened Temple of the High Council. Objective After completing difficulty level by killing Diablo in Classic and Baal in Expansion, return to Rogue Encampment in Act 1 with Wirt's Leg and place it in Horadric Cube with Tome of Town Portal, which can be bought from Akara. Transmute anywhere in Rogue Encampment to create portal to Moo Moo Farm. Portal created while standing just inside Rogue Encampment may actually be created just outside in Blood Moor, resulting in it being labelled No Level Name rather than The Secret Cow Level. Despite this, it still leads to Moo Moo Farm. Populated exclusively by Hell Bovines, spawning in groups of 5-10: due to individual and group size, monster density and openness of area, it is inadvisable to wander around gathering large herds unless capable of applying significant damage to multiple targets, or controlling crowds by altering AI or applying stun length, freeze length, cold length, Slows Target and the like. Champion and Unique Hell Bovines are indistinguishable from normal or minion Hell Bovines unless Ghostly (they become translucent), Aura Enchanted (aura displays beneath their hooves) or Extra Fast (increased movement speed). The Cow King is a Magic Resistant Lightning Enchanted Super Unique Hell Bovine normally located in or around south corner of corral, close to portal. He is always Immune to Lightning in Hell (165%), but also in Normal (115%) and Nightmare (140%). Accompanied by six minions in Normal, seven in Nightmare and eight in Hell. 10% chance of becoming Immune to Fire (100%) in Nightmare when Fire Enchanted; same chance of becoming Immune to Cold (100%) when Cold Enchanted. ~18% (16/90) chance of becoming immune to each of the following in Hell: Immune to Physical (100%) when Stone Skin (FE or CE not selected first). Always Immune to Fire (165%) when FE (SS or CE not selected first). Always Immune to Cold (165%) when CE (SS or FE not selected first). Reward Only Hell Bovines can drop Cow King's Leathers: Cow King's Horns War Hat Cow King's Hide Studded Leather Cow King's Hooves Heavy Boots The Cow King drops eight Stamina Potions upon death (among other things) Although not every item can drop, the size of groups, monster density, openness and lack of immunity make area popular due to high number of drops possible in short period of time. LoD: While killing the Cow King completes the quest, players aim to kill everything in Moo Moo Farm except The Cow King, since this prevents them from creating another portal to access area again (even when they do not kill him themselves: quest is completed for all players present in area when anybody kills him who has not done so in an earlier game). Players who have already completed quest can still access area via portal created by player who has not (they may also collect another Wirt's Leg, even though they can't create portal with it). Players who have already killed him can do so again without completing quest for other players in area. Best for creators of portal to never enter it, ensuring there is no chance of them losing this ability. The Cow King is Immune to Lightning in all difficulty levels, so characters specialising in Lightning Damage are recommended for clearing level with little to no risk of killing him (Amazons with Lightning Fury and Sorceresses with Lightning Spells are popular choices; Assassins with Lightning Sentry or Claws of Thunder and Paladins with Holy Shock are other possibilities).
