Skill Clones
The terms skill clone and med clone are interchangeable. You'll need to remember that if you read other guides or forum posts.
The skill clone is your backup copy of yourself. If you get shot down (and you will get shot down), you end up in your pod. If that pod gets shot down (you get podded), then you will end up in your skill clone.
Moving your skill clone incurs a fee, usually 5600 ISK, or something trivial.
You must keep your skill clone updated, or you risk losing skill points.
Jump Clones
Jump clones are also copies of yourself. These let you quickly jump from one part of the galaxy to another instantly. No matter where your jump clone is located.
You can never have two jump clones at the same location. You will lose a clone. Since these take time and ISK to set up, losing them is bad. Not only can you not have two jump clones in the same location, you cannot create a situation where you would accidentally put two jump clones in the same station.
Creating Jump Clones
There are three requirements for creating an additional jump clone:
- An NPC station or player outpost (POS's can not be used to create jumpclones) with medical facilities. (Note: Not all NPC corporations operate stations that contain medical facilities).
- Personal or corporate standing with the station owner of at least +8.0 for an NPC corporation, or at least +5.0 for a player corporation. This has to be unmodified standing; skills like Connections have no effect.
- Enough levels in the Informorph Psychology skill. Every level of Infomorph Psychology allows one jump clone, resulting in a maximum of 5 jump clones (in addition to a skill clone) for a character.
To create a jump clone, open the Medical panel, and click the Jump Clones tab. Click Install Clone to create a new, unimplanted clone at the station for a trivial cost. (It's something like 5,000 ISK, which, if you're in the market for jumpclones, shouldn't be more than a drop in the bucket.)

Suppose you have two jump clones, and skill clone, and a body.
