Template:BCS Hefaetrus will sometimes bestow this ability to his greatest champions. These fire-instilled arrows burn with such a fierce intensity that the very earth surrounding where they impact ignites into flame. Although the fires last but a few moments, some say the effect is as if the pillars of the mighty kingdom of Hefaetrus were reaching up through the ground to strike down the enemies who linger nearby.

  • Adds fire damage and explodes on impact or expiry regardless of whether or not the arrow's hit-check is successful, applying fire damage within its radius and engulfing targets with a pyre applying fire damage per second within a smaller radius. A successful hit-check is required for Pierce to be effective: an arrow that pierces four targets and hits five will explode on each impact.


95% chance-to-hit and 100% piercing results in approximately 81.5% chance of a single arrow piercing four times and applying explosion damage up to five times each to targets that are close enough together. Although explosion damage is applied within a smaller radius than Exploding Arrow, much more skill damage is applied, by both the arrow and the explosion: EA's skill damage is applied 25 times to the Hierophant and his Zealots (size 2) while that of IA is applied up to 28 times; EA's skill damage is applied 23 times to the Infidels (size 3) while that of IA is applied up to 24 times.


  • Uses Normal Attack's attack rate.
  • +% Attack Rating isn't applied, even though the character screen calculates and displays AR as though it is. [1] +% AR from other sources is applied.
  • Skill and attack fire damage are applied by both the arrow and the explosion. +% Fire Skill Damage only applies to the skill's fire damage: despite what is displayed, it does not apply to pyre fire damage per second.
  • Neither explosion nor pyre damage can be blocked.
  • Pyre fire damage is applied each frame for 99 frames by each of 29 fires occupying every sub-tile within a 2 yard radius. It can be applied multiple times depending on target size: only one fire applies damage to size 1 targets, up to five apply damage to size 2 targets and up to nine apply damage to size 3 targets. [2]
  • The potential fire damage applied by each missile is bit rate*99/256 fire damage over 3.96 (99/25) seconds. Damage from multiple overlapping fires stacks, although if two or more targets overlap the same sub-tile then damage only applies to one. [3]
  • Displayed pyre damage is calculated as [bit rate*75/256] fire damage per second, which assumes only three fires apply their damage: actual fire damage per second is 1/3 against size 1 targets, and can be 2/3 higher against size 2 targets and 3 times higher against size 3 targets.


95% chance-to-hit and 100% piercing results in approximately 81.5% chance of a single arrow piercing four times and spawning 29 fires up to five times each to targets that are close enough together. Fire damage per second would be applied 84 times to the Hierophant and his Zealots and 116 times to the Infidels if they remained stationary.


  • When firing continuously, fire damage per second to a single stationary target after the fourth arrow fired is calculated by multiplying displayed fire damage per second by the following:

  • Since unit damage regeneration does not apply when as little as 1 bit (1/256 point) damage is applied in a frame, units that are not Immune to Fire will not regenerate while positioned over pyre. [5] [6]
