When I fled the Monastery, I left behind the Horadric Malus, my enchanted smithing hammer. If you can retrieve it for me, I'll use its magic to strengthen your equipment.

Horadric Malus
The Smith does not need to be killed, but character must be at least level 8 to take Horadric Malus off its stand. Doing so causes it to drop on floor: it requires 1x2 inventory space to pick it up so that it can be returned to Charsi.
Reward
Oh! Thanks so much for returning the Horadric Malus! I will now imbue one of your items with magical powers.
- Charsi
- Charsi can now take one low, normal or high quality armor or weapon without sockets and imbue it to make it rare quality. Does not have to be done immediately (or at all): remains an option when interacting with her until armor or weapon has been imbued.
- Rare armor or weapon has item level = character level + 4. Use affix calculator to establish affix levels of desirable affixes and necessary item level (and thus character level) to maximise chance of them being picked.
- Best to imbue item which cannot be gambled, or which has less chance of being gambled:
- Any existing skill bonuses, or auto-affixes on class-specific items, will be lost and picked again.
- One skill bonus is always picked when imbuing item which can have them, and chance of two or three skill bonuses being picked increases based on rare item level (and thus character level):

Condition
|

|
70 < Rand(99) + clvl+4 < 91
|
3
|
Rand(99) + clvl+4 > 90
|
Rand(99) is a random number picked between 0 and 99
- Chance of skill bonus(es) of greater magnitude also increases based on rare item level:
