Description

Knockback will put a target into hit recovery and knock it back from the attacker as shown in the image below. [1]

Targets can be knocked back a distance of up to three sub-tiles when unobstructed, but occasionally they will only be knocked back one or two (or even just put into hit recovery without moving). The attacker's proximity to the target does not influence this distance.


Items

Knockback from items only applies to mêlée and ranged attacks (with some exceptions). Equipping more than one item with Knockback has no effect on either the chance of Knockback being applied or the distance knocked back, and there is no penalty for applying it with a ranged weapon. However, even if an attack is successful and does not get blocked, the chance of Knockback being applied varies depending on monster type [2] (monster types are described and displayed in the Arreat Summit's Monsters section):
