The Broadsword is a very popular sword among Templars, likely due to the traditional use they have seen all the way back to medieval times when they were crafted for wholly different battles than the one we are facing now. Broadswords however cut through meat just as well as they did 900 years ago. It is a no-frills blade, which might also explain some of its appeal to some Templars.
