Cloning
Skill CloneThe terms skill clone and med clone are interchangeable. You'll need to remember that if you read other guides or forum posts. The skill clone is your backup copy of yourself. If you get shot down (and you will get shot down), you end up in your pod. If that pod gets shot down (you get podded), then you will end up in your skill clone. Moving your skill clone incurs a fee, usually 5,600 Interstellar Kredits (ISK), or something trivial. You must keep your skill clone updated, or you risk losing skill points.
Jump CloneJump clones are also copies of yourself. These let you quickly jump from one part of the galaxy to another instantly, no matter where your jump clone is located. You can never have two jump clones at the same location, or you will lose a clone. Since these take time and ISK to set up, losing them is bad. Not only can you not have two jump clones in the same location, you cannot create a situation where you would accidentally put two jump clones in the same station. There are three requirements for creating an additional jump clone:
Enjoy your new reality.
ScenariosSuppose you have two jump clones, a skill clone and a body.
Scenario 1
Scenario: undock from station A and get podded. Your soul travels to your skill clone. Your body is dead.
Before you even consider undocking, buy a new skill clone.
Scenario 2
Scenario: clone jump to station C. Your "body" and your "jump clone" trade places.
Scenario 3
Scenario: pilot to station C.
Scenario: Attempt to jump to station 2. You will get a warning, since performing this jump would put two jump clones in the same location. One of the jump clones will be terminated. |
