A guide to using the calendar.

The forums calendar is a fairly powerful tool that if used correctly, helps folks keep all the raids and events in order easily.

Whats the Help | Search | Members | Calendar | BasinWear™ | WeaselTech™ line. This takes you to a calendar with the current month selected. You can click on the prior month and next month links near the top to swap months, or use the Month Jump dropdowns in the bottom right corner.

On the bottom of the page, is a . When you click it, you get a form to fill out.

Event Title

This is the most important thing to keep things organized. This is basically the Subject line for your calendar ‘post’. This is also what shows up on the bottom of the main WoW forum, right by the online users and such. It is set up to put all the subjects for all the upcoming events, for the next seven days. Try to set up the title to answer a couple questions, yet keep it short -- What? Where? When?. As far as the When bit, Try to always use the Server Time This matches up to PST on Tich, and EST on SR. If you don’t know the time you need, you should be able to use a time zone converter to get your local time to server time. You can use US/LA for Tich, and US/New York for SR.

A few examples of easy to understand titles… Tich: 1/25 - 8:pm: RFK raid( lvl 10-16)

SR: 1/30 – 3pm : Horde town raid - All welcome

Date for Event: This is what date to put the event on. It should match your Event Title :)

Ranged Event... This is used for Multi day events, rarely used. Examples would be like Wow Get-together in New York, Server down for complete overhaul. You would put in the start date, and the end date.

Recurring Event... You can set up weekly/monthly/yearly events. You put in the first date, then choose the Recurring Event option, and make sure you put in an end date.

Type of Event Fairly self explanatory. You want to put your Wife’s anniversary somewhere, and you don’t have anywhere else, then this should work. I don’t know for a fact, but my gut feeling is that this is slightly frowned upon, due to ‘wasting’ database space. Public Event (Viewable by all) Personal Event (Viewable by you only)

Since folks cannot add a reply to your calendar event, create a post in the Meeting Place forum. Copy the URL from that post, and make it a link in the body of your calendar event. This allows folks to discuss your event. Folks that wish to attend your event should reply to that thread to let the raid leader know there is enough (or too much) support for the raid.
