Talk:Hellgate: London
This entry page seems a little... bleak. Should something be done to make it look a bit more attractive? Not that I have any idea what that is actually, just trying to start a little discussion (it's the discussion page, teehee).
And well it doesn't add who wrote a comment, tsk tsk. NS.
Oh wait, my mistake. I'm rusty. And stupid. --Neutron Star 22:18, 6 May 2006 (GMT)
The page hopefully haved shaped up a bit by now. :D -- Jugalator 19:26, 20 Oct 2007 (BST)
Quests
Do we know for sure that the breakdown of quests into "quests" and "missions" is correct? I'm assuming that that means the difference between "purple quests" and "yellow quests", but I've never heard them called anything but "story-line quests" and "side-quests". Is this possibly terminology from GW that isn't typically used in this game? --Needlehawk 22:26, 21 Oct 2007 (BST)
- Right.. This could be outdated info. It was inferred from various interviews etc, not from playing the game.
Taking them one by one, I think this is what they are: Quests - Actually both the "purple" and "yellow" stuff, and anything non-random given. I think the "overall storyline" part should maybe be removed, because I think the intention is that these are all the stuff that remain the same each time you play through the game, and sometimes they do not have to do with the storyline -- as you say about the yellow quests. I think when this was written, we didn't even know there was a distinction between purple/yellow. Missions - I think this would be the (currently quite rarely given - only had it happen once yet) random stuff where a Templar can appear outdoors and ask you to escort him to the next station. Then you get a good item in reward. These are randomly given. Chance events - This entry should maybe be removed altogether. I think it was the "prototype" for the minigame. Roper & Co. talked about random "events" or "games" that could suddenly start as you're playing through an area, telling you to e.g. "Kill X monsters in Y seconds with damage type Z". I think these were reworked to the current minigames and don't exist anymore in the form of randomly appearing and going as you play.-- Jugalator 23:14, 21 Oct 2007 (BST)
- Update: OK, it looks like I was wrong about this; I found an article posted by Bill Roper here. It clearly lays things out in a way where I can understand what he means now. :-) I've updated the main page a little to clarify. -- Jugalator 09:28, 22 Oct 2007 (BST)
- Hmm...ok. That article is pretty old though, and we haven't seen anything like that in Beta. I'm wondering if the "missions" were changed to the new "achievements" just announced by Kaiser here. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I also don't remember any chance events, but maybe they just weren't there for the Beta. --Needlehawk 16:11, 22 Oct 2007 (BST)
- I think I've actually had a "chance event" happen, but they seem quite rare. It was a Templar that needed escorting to a nearby station. Suddenly he was just standing there, outdoors. I'm not sure how well they've been added to the game yet, and I haven't heard of any other such event happen to players. *shrug* I thought it sounded like missions are those "yellow" quests, only that they aren't random right now. So it could be that you're right and all these are lumped together as quests. It's pretty hard to tell from the info I've seen. But archievements would probably need its own section. -- Jugalator 23:03, 22 Oct 2007 (BST)
- OK, I merged missions and quests, because I don't think there's a need to do a distinction, and it's pretty confusing anyway, especially since the terminology isn't confirmed/used in the game right now. I also see the same being done on other wikis, and it also came into mind that the game put any sort of quest in the quest log, so I'm not sure there is a real difference here. I now call "missions" as "optional quests" in the quest article, as opposed to "storyline quests". But they're both just treated as quests. -- Jugalator 10:50, 23 Oct 2007 (BST)
added quest
I added the first quest in the category quests. I think naming them “Quest:Quest Name“ is a good idea. Works great on wowwiki.com. Perhaps we could come up with a fancy template at some point and add whether a quest is a sidequest or storyline quest. AngelicFaces 13:55, 27 Oct 2007 (BST)
