Three Tree Build
This is a test build that has been proposed by A White Guy on the basin forums. Putting it up for posterity and to remind myself.
Holy Talents (8 points)
- Spiritual Focus - 5/5 points
- Improved Holy Light - 3/3 points
Protection Talents (21 points)
- Redoubt - 5/5 points
- Toughness - 5/5 points
- Shield Specialization - 5/5 points
- Blessing of Sanctuary - 1/1 point
- Improved Seal of Fury - 4/5 points
- Holy Shield - 1/1 point
Retribution Talents (22 points)
- Improved Blessing of Might - 5/5 points
- Improved Seal of the Crusader - 5/5 points
- Deflection - 5/5 points
- Seal of Command - 1/1 point
- Improved Retribution Aura - 5/5 points
- Consecration - 1/1 point
His stated goal is to use Seal of Fury and Consecration to hold aggro. Holy talents should be pretty self explanatory. Retribution gets a number of useful talents boosting abilities and granting two new ones, Seal of Command and Consecration.
Alternate Version
As another way to make this build, this is my plan for going three trees, but only after getting down to Blessing of Kings to see how that works.
Protection Mastery - 21
- Redoubt Rank 5/5
- Improved Blessing of Protection Rank 2/2
- Toughness Rank 3/5
- Blessing of Sanctuary Rank 1/1
- Improved Seal of Fury Rank 4/5
- Shield Specialization Rank 5/5
- Holy Shield Rank 1/1
Retribution Mastery - 21
- Improved Blessing of Might Rank 5/5
- Improved Seal of the Crusader Rank 5/5
- Deflection Rank 5/5
- Vengeance Rank 4/5
- Seal of Command Rank 1/1
- Consecration Rank 1/1
Holy Mastery - 9
- Spiritual Focus Rank 5/5
- Improved Blessing of Wisdom Rank 4/5
I've got some weird point placement because of my desire to do certain things.
Protection moves all the way down to Holy Shield, but I'm choosing to pull some points from Toughness and get Improved Blessing of Protection. It should not be too difficult to get a massive amount of armor anyways once I hit plate, and decreasing my cooldown on the Blessing could be a big factor in long fights after an ugly pull. Blessing of Sanctuary may go, since the decrease may become inconsequential even after upgrading to rank 5 which is 24 less damage per hit.
Retribution moves down to Consecration. I chose to get full points in Deflection since it seems to help me a lot right now, and Vengence instead of Improved Retribution Aura. Vengence has served me quite well in battle so far, and I'm loath to give that up yet since the return from putting those points in Imp. Retri. Aura would only get me 20% more damage, or 1-4 more depending on the level of aura. That doesn't seem too convincing to me, since Vengence will do the same thing, but only for the eight seconds after I critical.
Holy avoids Improved Healing Light and gets Improved Blessing of Wisdom. 4 points of Imp. Blessing of Wisdom gives my tics a 16% increase which comes out to anywhere between 1.6-5.12 mana more depending on the rank. This choice is because I found that Blessing of Wisdom has drastically decreased my downtime as my battles get longer. My DPS may be rising, but enemy HP is rising faster, so battles take longer. In addition, Blessing of Wisdom has ensured that my heals keep coming at a steady rate as well as keeping my mana pool from being crippled by the use of Consecration. In addition, constant casting of Holy Shield will quickly drain a mana pool, Blessing should keep me from running dry all the time.
Playstyle should be pretty simple. Solo, Retribution Aura, Blessing of Wisdom, Seal of the Crusader and wade in. Heal and cast Holy Shield as necessary and wear the mobs down with staying power. In a group, Change Auras as necessary, Blessing of Wisdom to maintain the mana pool, and Seal of Fury to get aggro. Drop Consecration to get aggro from adds and be ready to heal the people that need it. In a group, using level 1 Holy Shield will probably be more mana efficent since other will be doing the main damage.
