Skill level only applied when cast, +% Cold Skill Damage applied whenever cold damage is applied to a hostile unit. [2] Bolt applying cold damage and cold length is fired at any hostile unit that fires a missile which collides with the caster, regardless of whether or not any attack is successful. [1] Bolt is destroyed upon collision with any target or obstacle between the caster and the attacker. Bolts are only triggered by collisions with missiles with ReturnFire flagged. [3] Most applicable missiles are obvious (arrows, bolts, javelins, throwing axes and knives, and other projectiles), but some are less so: Charged Strike and Lightning Strike are melee attacks releasing missiles which trigger bolts; arctic blast used by Frozen Horrors and Nihlathak triggers bolts despite similar skills not doing so; Poison Enchanted missiles may be invisible, but this does not prevent them from triggering bolts. For example, bolts may be triggered by a direct collision with a Fire Ball, Glacial Spike, Molten Boulder or Tornado, but not by damage applied within radius of that collision.
