Detail

  • Creates a blue magic portal that takes the player to the town (in the same Act) instantly.
  • Town Portals function as two-way passages, allowing players to teleport back to town or return to the area where the portal was opened.
  • Town Portals can be created mid-battle, providing a quick means to escape danger or return to town to restock on supplies such as potions.
  • Town Portal is closed if the player who created it enters it from the town. A portal *can* be entered multiple times from the wilderness, if the player returns to it by other means (such as a Waypoint).
  • Opening a new Town Portal will close any other portals previously created by that player.
  • A portal created by a Portal Shrine or when completing quests are permanent and "anonymous", independent from those created by players.
  • Players can use Town Portals created by other party members. Doing so never closes the portal.
  • If a player goes hostile with another player, its Town Portal will close. It will also be unable to use the other players' portals or ones created by a Portal Shrine.
  • The player cannot use a Town Portal to teleport to areas inaccessible due to not having a quest completed (such as the Durance of Hate before completing The Blackened Temple (and in D2R also Khalim's Will) quests).
  • Opening a Town Portal when fighting Ancients during Rite of Passage quest will reset the fight. It can be exploited to spawn Ancients with more favorable Unique monster modifiers at higher difficulty levels.
