About the game

Diablo 2 is the sequel to the highly popular Diablo (1996). Many players consider it to be a "hack and slash" styled role playing game (RPG).

Blizzard North released Diablo 2 version 1.0 on <date>. Blizzard released the Lord of Destruction expansion pack with version 1.07 on 29 June, 2000. In addition to adding a significant amount of content with the expansion pack, Blizzard also made several game-altering patches (notably 1.09 and 1.10) which added items, changed game balance, modified game mechanics, and brought a new feel with these changes. All of these updates are under their free <Battle.net> on-line gaming service. The current game version is 1.12. Unless mentioned otherwise, all information in the Diablo 2 wiki is for the most recent patch of Diablo 2, Lord of Destruction (D2 LOD).

Classes

Diablo II began with five classes (Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin and Sorceress) and Lord of Destruction added two more (Assassin and Druid). Each class has 3 unique skill trees, each with 10 skills, as well as class-specific items and bonuses.
