With just over a month of GW2 under our belts, now seems like a good time to try a pilot program to help connect those who want to do crafting and those who need items crafted. We will try this out for approximately a month, and will be looking for feedback from the guild on every aspect of the idea.

Qualities of the Basin Artisan

This rank indicates someone who is willing to craft items for other Basiners who for whatever reason, can't craft their own items. To be considered for this rank, we ask that you have already demonstrated a commitment to crafting, in the form of having reached at least level 225 in a crafting profession, and be willing to take the time to assist others in determining what materials they would need to make a certain item, and to craft those items for them at a mutually convenient time. Those requesting items would provide the materials, and the Basin Artisans would provide their time.

We have a signup thread in the Basin Artisans Fair thread on the forums, where you can indicate your interest in becoming a Basin Artisan and what professions your are able to craft in. In addition, there is a unique icon for Basin Artisans to help them be recognizable in game in addition to on the forums.

Stash Permissions

In return for being willing to donate your time and expertise to your guildmates, the 50 slot "Stash" part of the Guild Bank will be designated as our "Basin Artisans Crafting Storage". All guild members will be able to deposit items into it, but only Basin Artisans, Game Council, and Leadership Team will be able to withdraw from it. This way, as guild members come across crafting materials that they don't need or want to sell, they can put them into the "Basin Artisans Crafting Storage" and be available to Basin Artisans to use to further their crafting skills. We will also continue to use this part of the Guild Bank to save funds for guild upgrades like increasing the membership cap, or to buy materials needed for guild sponsored events (e.g. materials for guild banquets and so forth) which we ask Basin Artisans NOT to use.

Since this is a pilot, we are looking for constructive feedback on how the idea works at the end of the pilot period. We ask you to try it out, so that you can share your thoughts on the idea. As we go through the pilot, please consider the following topics for feedback include:

  • Did you ever use the services of a Basin Artisan?
  • If you are a Basin Artisan, where you ever asked to provide crafting services?
  • Did the forums and in-game rank make it easier to find a crafter?
  • How useful is it to have a dedicated "Crafting Storage"?
  • What suggestions would you make to improve the idea?
  • Overall, are you in favour, ambivalent, or against continuing with the Basin Artisan rank?
